Calculate Your Body Mass Index
How do you calculate Body Mass Index
Body Mass Index is a simple calculation based on the height of a person and their weight. Formula: BMI = kg/m 2. where kg is the weight of a person's in kilograms, while m 2 is their height in meters squared.
It is a BMI over 25.0 or more is considered overweight and healthy includes 18.5 up to 24.9. BMI applies to all adult aged between 18 and 65.
Who shouldn't use the BMI calculator
BMIis not recommended for muscle building, long distance athletes pregnant women, old or the young. This is due to the fact that BMIdoes don't consider which weights are being carried as muscle or fat, but only the amount. People with higher strength, for example, athletes, may have a higher BMI but they're not more at risk of health problems. Individuals with a smaller muscle mass, like children who aren't finished with their growth process or who are losing muscle mass , may have less of a BMI. During pregnancy and lactation the body composition of a woman changes, and so the use of BMI is not appropriate.
